In consideration of the fact…that all those who stand before us in this tribunal and elsewhere, have struggled hard to produce that dark uneven bread whereby they exist…and that the good ingredients and the bad which this bread contains are not easily distinguishable because perhaps these men, while they breathed and walked upon the earth, were unable to be different from what they have been…in consideration of the fact…that they have suffered greatly, dragging with them a most heavy burden… for these reasons in the name of God; in the name of the law, we declare that these men…have themselves pronounced their just and proper sentence. They pronounce it every day, in the lives they lead and the torments that they suffer. We declare that by themselves they have found their certainty.
